Curricular Support

Core competencies for Ross medical students include skills in problem solving, using information technology, and managing large volumes of knowledge. Library staff members are committed to making available the resources and facilities necessary for students to meet these goals. The library director further assists students to achieve these core competencies by instructing students in the principles of literature searching in class lectures and in smaller or individual group sessions and teaches students how to evaluate websites they use to find information.

Document Delivery

Document delivery bridges the gap between what a library has in its print and electronic collections and what users need from publications not available in the library. The Anne Ross Library has cooperative resource sharing agreements with a variety of biomedical resource libraries including the National Library of Medicine (NLM) in Bethesda, Maryland. Articles from journals not available in our collection may be requested in person or via e-mail to the library director msullivan@rossmed.edu.dm

Mediated Searching

Mediated searching refers to the interactive process between a search intermediary and the person requesting a literature search. Those wanting to have a biomedical search done may contact the library director at msullivan@rossmed.edu.dm

Ready Reference

Library staff will gladly look up facts and answer ready reference questions related to science, technology, and medicine. Please ask at the Information Desk, or call extension 6273.
